Hi guys!!! Todays post is on pure breeds, designer Breeds, and sub-breeds.
- Pure Breeds
Pure bred dogs are quite common, and are probably the most bought type of bred dogs. Pure bred dogs are a specific breed with no cross or inter breeding with any other breed. Parents of a pure bred puppy is the same breed. Pure bred dogs are a little bit costly compared to a dog adopted from a shelter. However, you can expect the breed’s temperament, size, noise and etc.
Another thing about pure bred dogs is that they can be registered with almost any large dog selling groups such as the AKC or Puppy Spot.
2. Designer Breeds
Designer Breeds are dogs that are not pure bred. Designer Breeds are dogs that have parents that are two different breeds. These breeds as well are more costly then pure breeds because they are much harder and rarer to breed. You can determine the breeds temperament and such. Designer breeds are also consider the more formal version of a mutt, but designer breeds have recieved its own type of breed.
Unfortunately, designer breeds are not allowed to be sold or registered with AKC because they are not purebred. This is why designer breeds are considered rare because they cannot be sold with AKC.
3. Sub-Breeds
Sub-Breeds are variants of a pure bred breed. For example, there is the Standard Poodle and the Toy poodle. The Toy Poodle is a sub-breed of the poodle because even though it shares many of the same characteristics as the poodle it is much smaller.
Sub breeds are considered somewhat part of the purebred’s because they are bred only with the same breed as themselves. Other than that, that’s all there really is to sub breeds
WARNING!!!: Never refer to a dog as a sub-breed because to many people it is considered offensive because sub breed technically means a minority breed or a secondary breed.
